Can Olive Oil Help Those With Depression?

By Paula Hess

There's no denying that the inclusion of olive oil can elicit various, positive changes in relation to physical health. After all, the combination of healthy fats and antioxidants can help to keep a body strong, meaning that sustaining life can be done with greater ease. With that said, are there certain mental or emotional benefits that this oil can bring to the table? For those who do not know, it may be prudent to understand its impact on depression.

Depression can come about through various causes, some of them more common than others. It's possible that this can come about due to a negative event in a person's life, one example being the loss of a job that has been held for several years. It can also be argued that clinical depression is a genetic disposition that can be passed down along various generations. What this means is that solutions, to depression, are going to be focused on that much more.

According to a study that was put forth by the Olive Oil Times, it seems as though there are quite a few common components linking cardiovascular conditions to depression in general. This information was found out through research conducted by specialists at the University of Navarra and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Essentially, what this means is that olive oil has been brought into various diets, in addition to other health foods with polyunsaturated fats. It's products like these that companies the likes of Unaprol should focus on.

You may wonder why, exactly, products like these can be linked to the reduction of depression. It's important to note that depression, for quite some time, has been medically linked to serotonin, or lack thereof. While solutions such as Zoloft have been prescribed, for this purpose, certain foods with fatty acids can prove to be helpful in their own right. In addition to olive oil, fish and nuts can provide said fatty acids along with other essential nutrients.

It goes without saying that various solutions can be seen when it comes to medical practices in general. Some of the solutions in question may jump out at you more than others but there's no denying the fact that they can prove useful in the long term. Certain foods can be integrated, specifically those which contain fatty acids the body can make use out of. To say that there are choices to consider would be nothing short of an understatement.
