By Shirley Baker

When it comes to cutting calories and fat to lose weight, sometimes it seems that all of the excitement of eating good food is a memory. The truth is that it does not have to be this way. Although some diet plans can be fairly rigid and sometimes, overly restrictive, there are some ways around this without cheating. By incorporating sriracha uses recipes with traditionally healthy dishes, anyone can have meals that only taste sinfully good.

All it comes down to is planning and making reasonable substitutions. This may seem like a reach for the busy person but to anyone who enjoys cooking, this can actually be fun. When the mission is to find a way to make old dishes healthier, this may lead to eating habits that can last a lifetime and certainly pay off.

For starters, it is not only a condiment that can be enjoyed by itself but it makes incredible toppings when combined with mayonnaise, ketchup, or tomato sauce with barbecue seasonings. This sauce can also be enhanced with raw honey, roasted garlic, or any flavor that pairs well with tangy flavors. Some people also find sriracha jam to be ideal for finger foods and main entrees.

Commonly reduced guilt edibles are cauliflower or thin crust vegetarian pizza, turkey burgers, and mac and cheese made with butternut squash. Some recipes lack flavor or are dry due to a lack of oil or whole milk dairy products. However, adding a little sriracha or chipotle sauce can perk things up quickly.

Potato dishes are not only inexpensive but they blend well with many flavors. Sweet potatoes are an especially great companion with spices, especially when cooked over an open fire. There are many recipes that can be found online, as well as specialty cookbooks. Since more people are opting to go meatless, these should be fairly easy to find.

While its slight hint of sweetness is great on many entree and side dishes, believe it or not, some are also enjoying this as a dessert. Citrus or some tropical flavors like pineapple or mango are great companions for the tangy taste and there are even some who like to mix intense spices with nontraditional pairings like chocolate. Like anything else that is normally used on savory dishes, it helps to either be familiar with flavors or follow a recipe carefully.

Although a dash of sriracha can add a nice touch, sometimes creating the right ingredient combination may require a little input from health experts. In other words, a person may have their hot honey mustard sauce by substituting sugar with a little agave nectar. There are also healthy recipes to be found for spicy barbecue or buffalo style sauces.

Whether the choices are temporary or permanent, it also helps to learn more than one way of preparing a favorite dish. This may apply to any protein, complex starch or vegetable. Most people find grilling pans to be a real asset since it allows it carmelize or create grill marks but the excess fat stays in the pan and not on the food.
