The Australians are proud of the food that they produce. Some of this is typically Australian. They may debate as to whether some of it was invented by them or whether it came from another country. Some of the foods, travellers find to be very appealing, while others they don't want to touch. However, the average Australian lives on these. Traditional Australian food recipes is definitely something worth exploring.

There may be a lot that the average person has not heard about. The typical foods, such as the meat pies is known to be famous in these parts. It is made easily and anyone will enjoy the flavours. The meat is good in this part of the world, so it is naturally something that most people will enjoy. The Australians love their meat. There are not too many vegetarians here.

The lamington is not something that many Australians can refuse. After all, it is the national cake of the country. It is a basic sponge cake, but topped with chocolate icing and coconut. You won't pass a cafe without seeing one of these. Most people will have a cup of tea or coffee with their lamington. There are also other subtle variations that you will discover.

Wheat Bix is another favourite of the average Aussie and always has been. It doesn't matter how old you are, Aussies will boast that Wheat Bix is unique to them because it is smaller and sweeter and this sets it above the rest, making it quite average in the rest of the world. It is definitely a favourite to have for breakfast. But it can also make a great snack.

Everyone is aware of pavlova, but not everyone knows the story behind this and that in fact it originated in Australia. Anna Pavlova was a Russian ballet dancer. This resembles the dancer and honours here visit to the country. The meringue base has a light, crisp texture which goes well with the cream and fruit that is served on top.

Since there are so many coastal towns and beaches in this amazing country, fish and seafood has always been a keen favourite. Foods will include fish and chips which is served in paper. People will sit somewhere eating this straight out of the paper bag. It should be served to perfection with a good dose of pastry on the fish.

John Dory is usually the fish of choice for the average Australian. This is usually served with chips or mashed potatoes. John Dory can be found mostly in Sydney. Fishing is a big industry and there are a lot of seafood restaurants. There are also a lot of sushi restaurants, particularly in Sydney which are well known run by top rated chefs. Calamari is also another food type that is known to be famous in these parts.

Wheat-Bix may not seem like anything special since one can find this just about anywhere else. However, Australians boast their version is smaller and sweeter. While most people in other countries don't see this as to be anything unique, Australians are quite passionate about their Wheat-Bix in the mornings.
