Asian Chilli Sauces Why People Like Them

Asian food is world known to be spicy but tasty at the same time. People love Asian food and its condiments especially chilli sauces. These sauces are popular all around the world and can be used as a condiment or an ingredient to make a specific dish.

One of the popular sauces widely used in Thai cuisine is called the Nam Chim which is a spicy Thai dipping sauce. Its a tasty blend of chilli peppers, lemon juice, garlic, fish sauce, sugar and shrimp paste. The taste is so authentic that you'll fall in love with it. The consistency of this sauce is a bit watery not very thick but it doesn't taste watery at all.

It goes well with fresh vegetables as well as grilled meat or fish dishes. You will not find this sauce in the supermarkets because it has to be made fresh every time because if you make it and try to conserve the sauce, it wouldn't taste the same at all. Usually people make it in their homes whenever they need it or it is served in restaurants, freshly made.

Nuoc Cham is another favorable dipping sauce originating from Vietnam. Fish sauce is used as a base for making it and it tastes great with fried food items like spring rolls, fried chicken and many more items. To add spiciness to the sauce, crushed or chopped green chillies are added right at the end. Other ingredients used include sugar, vinegar, fish sauce and sugar.

An Indonesian sauce that is known by different names in different Asian countries is the Sambal Oelek. The traditional Indonesian method was to use a stone mortar and crush all the ingredients together until they are all mashed up together. Nowadays, this sauce is made on a large scale by different manufacturers who use their own crushing techniques. The commonly used ingredients in this recipe are garlic, red peppers, salt, lime and sugar.

Sambal Teraso us another Indonesian variety that is gaining popularity because of its great taste. Traditional method of making it is the same as Sambal Oelek but the ingredients used are a bit different. You will need shallots, shrimp paste. Sugar, salt, lemon juice and garlic. The difference in taste is identifiable because shrimp paste adds a very delicate taste to it.

A well recognized sauce in almost every single Vietnamese restaurant is the Sriracha sauce. Although the ingredients used to make it are almost the same as Sambal Oelek but once all the ingredients are crushed down, they are then passed through a sieve to make the sauce look smoother in appearance and seedless. It is one of the most favorite sauces all around the world.

A traditional Thai sauce mostly used as a condiment with fried dishes is the sweet Thai chilli sauce. As compared to other varieties, this sauce may not taste that spicy but the sweet and spicy combination does make it standout among the rest. It is easily available in supermarkets.
